OCCAROCK
Friday, July 23 2010, 8.30pm
As the word “OCCA” best describes Australian, that is exactly what this band covers—Good Aussie rock, and Only Good Aussie rock (with the exception of a few NZ songs, although we refer to them as 'East Tasmanian' songs) Australian rock has developed over the years to become a major player in today's international music industry. The nurturing and testing ground for most of those acts was the Australian Pub scene. For years we have been listening to stories from audience members on how they used to go and see acts such as AC/DC, INXS, Cold Chisel, Midnight Oil, and many others perform in local pubs and clubs. What better way to pay tribute to these acts than to try and keep the Pub scene alive with the music that it was built on. Our repertoire consists of classic’s from the 60’s through to today, and as one happy publican was quoted to say: “every person in the room knew each one of the songs—what a great concept!” And it is a great concept, because Aussie rock has it own edge!. It represents all of us, and reflects the emotions of our nation at the time. And what is the best way to celebrate it, than to pay tribute to it.
