TRIPOD LIVE
Sunday, November 07 2010, 8.30pm (Doors Open 7.45pm)
It is Tripod’s most exciting year yet. They’re preparing their new show, tentatively titled Dungeons and Dragons the Opera, for a U.S. premiere in January at the prestigious Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art, the culmination of an intensive workshop period as the museum’s Artists ¬¬in Residence. They are also about to release their third DVD, Live at Woodford. 2009 began with a trip to Las Vegas where the boys performed their ode to gamer love Gonna Make You Happy Tonight as part of Microsoft’s Keynote Address at the Consumer Electronics Show.
Last year, Tripod released a Christmas album, For The Love of God and embarked on a national tour which included performances at the Sydney Opera House. Also in 2008, Tripod were invited to play the Montreal Just for Laughs Festival, which was bookended by shows in New York and Los Angeles. Earlier that year, Tripod won the Green Room Award for Best Original Songs in a Cabaret Performance for their show How To Train an Attack Dog from Scratch.
2007 saw Tripod playing the Edinburgh Fringe to sellout crowds and receiving the much-sought-after five-star review from the Scotsman. Also that year, Tripod appeared weekly as one of the core acts on The Sideshow for ABC-TV.
Tripod are regulars on the music festival circuit, having played the Falls Festival, High Vibes, Woodford Folk Festival, the Port Fairy Folk Festival, the Apollo Bay Music Festival, the Queenscliff Music Festival, the Gympie Music Muster and many others.
Over the years, Tripod have appeared on numerous T.V. shows in Australia and abroad, including Rove, Spicks and Specks, the Just For Laughs Comedy Gala in Montreal and are fixtures in the annual Melbourne International Comedy Festival Gala. Tripod have also featured as core cast members on Network Ten’s Skithouse.
Tripod are also well known for their radio work, most notably their Song-In-An-Hour Challenge on TripleJ, which they did for three years, as well as countless appearances on every major radio station in the country.
Prolific recording artists, Tripod have released eight full-length albums and two DVDs. In 2005, Tripod received an ARIA award for their album, Middleborough Rd.
